Hopper is the satellite TV provider's central DVR/Tuner set-top box, with a huge 2 TB internal drive, which Dish claims can hold 2000 total hours of programming, and three tuners. It's also got a fast, slick new interface, and includes a Zigbee wireless remote that doesn't require a line of sight the way traditional infrared remotes do. It also comes with a "remote control finder" alert to locate your clicker in the cushions. The Hopper can also extend to up to four Joey devices, which can access to the central tuner and DVR located in Hopper by networking over a home's existing coaxial cables.
However, the most innovative (and potentially controversial feature) is "PrimeTime Anytime," which records every prime time show on all four major networks in HD automatically and saves them for eight days. We haven't heard what ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox think of this feature, and their responses could be quite interesting, since all the networks have been attempting to build a business selling past episodes online. But Dish is avoiding any dodgy legal issues by requiring a one-time user activation of PrimeTime Anytime, essentially automating the process of recording everything on television.
The Hopper system launches this year, but pricing has not yet been set.

The Hopper also lets you view a live show on any TV that is being viewed on another TV and record a movie in any room and watch it in another. Because this device only uses 1 tuner to record 4 channels it reduces DVR conflicts. Being that I'm a DISH employee I can tell you that this receiver holds your 4 major network stations recordings up to 8 days automatically, but you must have HD programming and locals along with enabling the function in the menu. DISH Network has taken over the TV industry with HD, TV everywhere and now DVR technology with “Prime Time Anytime” networks!
